Handcoiled, handpainted, traditionally fired Sikyatki design polychrome vessel by Michael Hawley (1948-2012). Michael calls his pottery Chacoptewa Polychrome . The canteen measures about 17" diameter with a 2" opening and 7" depth; it is about 18" H x 19.5" wide from handle to handle. In excellent estate condition with minor signs of shelf wear. The metal display holder is included. Signed on the back. A rare piece and size! Consider this piece on its own merit as Michael is not Hopi. Firing very large pieces like this does not always result in success.
